Hey witches and warlocks. I’m here to tell you about something fun happening in Texas this month. My buddy Mitch Rafter, Creator of Gore Noir Magazine, is working hard on creating an experience that celebrates the 90th Anniversary of the U.S. release of the German expressionist horror film, Nosferatu: A Symphony or Horror.
Nosferatu Festival takes place May 31- June 2 in Austin, TX and will feature screenings, music, vendors and photo ops to name a few. The festival will start with a kick off party at Kick Butt Coffee Friday evening, featuring Nosferatu inspired burlesque performances and live music by skate punk band, Nosfera II. It follows up with two full days of fun at 4th Tap Brewing Co-Op. They’ll be screening different versions of Nosferatu all weekend, including a version performed with a live score by the Invincible Czars, and the premiere of the Gore Noir Edition with an all new soundtrack by Austin composer/musician Steven Canham.
Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is one of the most influential silent films of all time. The unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula was shot in 1921 and continues to keep a cult following.
”Nosferatu is a film that unites the community; whether you’re a punk, or a goth or just a fan of horror films,” says Mitch Rafter. “The film brings people together.”
